A full-day excursion to see the hidden gems around Bangkok. Board a long-tail boat up the Mae Klong River and visit King Rama II Memorial Park and Museum and the Amphawa floating market.

Visit Wat Po, one of Bangkok’s oldest and largest temples, famous for the 43m reclining Buddha. The tour continues at Lak Muang, Bangkok’s city pillar, before heading to the famous Grand Palace and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha (Wat Pra Kaew), the most revered shrine in the Kingdom.
Lunch is included at a riverside restaurant before boarding a longtail boat to explore the klongs, Bangkok’s maze of canals and waterways to see parts of Thai traditional life which have disappeared from most of Bangkok.
End the day with a visit to Wat Arun, the Temple of Dawn, before returning to your hotel.

Visit Worarot Market and Thapae Gate, one of the four original city gates, where you continue by “Samlor,” or rickshaw. The tour includes a visit to Wat Suandok, where you can meet with an English-speaking monk.
Lunch at a restaurant near the Huay Kaew Waterfall before visiting Wat Prathat Doi Suthep.
Chiang Khong
Travel to Chiang Khong and overnight in a local hotel. Chiang Khong is a picturesque place on the banks of the Mekong, which has long been a trading post between Thailand and Laos.
Mekong River - slow boat
Cross the border into Laos and board your slow boat for the journey down the Mekong.
Luang Prabang
Continue down the Mekong to arrive at Luang Prabang.

City tour with lunch at a local house, followed by some time at leisure back at your hotel.
In the late afternoon, visit a small village about half an hour away, for a traditional Lao ceremony and a game of of petanque with some villagers before returning to your hotel.

Fly to Hanoi, the Vietnamese capital. Afternoon walking tour of Hanoi's Old Quarter ending with a beer (or two) in a local bar.

Transfer to the Gulf of Tonkin to board a wooden sail boat for a journey in Ha Long Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site of around 1,600 islands and uninhabited islets, of outstandingly beauty. Overnight in a cabin on board. All meals will be provided on board.

Return from Ha Long Bay to Hanoi airport in time to check in for the short flight to Hue, formerly the political, cultural and religious capital of Vietnam.

City tour of Hué including the Forbidden Purple City. After lunch board a dragon boat for a trip on the Perfume River to visit the Thien Mu Pagoda. Afterwards visit the tombs of the emperors Tu Duc and Khai Dinh.

Transfer to Da Nang airport in time to check in for the flight to Ho Chi Minh city, the "Diamond of the Far-East", Ho Chi Minh is Vietnam's largest city, an amalgam of modern skyscrapers with oriental pagodas, where office workers in business suits mingle side by side with those wearing traditional palm-leaf conical hats.
